Clay and Wood

Bees! I love bees and beekeeping. I have 3 hives just outside the window of my studio. I take my coffee breaks with them. They influence my way of working and are a source of creativity.DSC_0163safe_image

You will see bee influence on pretty much all my pots these days.

Gardening and food  are also defining factors in my work. I create items for the kitchen that I personally use. Some items are recreated old-timey pieces that you can’t find in fancy kitchen stores.  Some are work horses like the fermenting crocks, storage jars and ovenware.

Most of all I love mugs, they are personal, intimate items of everyday use. The lip of the mug is like a kiss. You know right away if it’s a fit. The handle must be right for your hand. So every mug is a bit different, made that way to express our individuality. IMG_0478

I confess, I’m not a “stick to one design and make it for years” kind of person anymore. Been there done that. Now let’s have some fun!

You can find my work here at the studio but also at Bluerock Gallery, in Black Diamond, Because I Said So in Nanton and Heritage Park gift store in Calgary, Alberta.

Wood

Robert loves unusual projects. From funky fences and pizza ovens to a  reciprocating pole roof. Robert works with the client to create what is a good fit for their lifestyle and budget.  DSC_0089   deck 1
