Hello old friend, it’s been awhile.

IMG_6575.JPGSpring, you lovely, noisy, chaotic beauty, I have missed you!

The stores in the pantry are getting low and the studio door is now wide open most days as I work and take in the beauty of nature waking after its long winter sleep. The bees have come through winter with minor losses and the perennial vegetables are offering up their bounty. Nettles coming on so fast we eat them daily with asparagus, lovage and chives.

I like to consider what comes from my garden when I’m in the studio. Trays for those beautiful long asparagus, round bellied bowls for salads of fresh spring greens.

After this long dark cold winter I crave color. The flowers, the birds, the earth changing. It seems so short lived. So this year I am spending time creating totems for the garden that offer up color all year round. When our layers of green fall away in the autumn these totems will continue to remind us of the light.

This year I’m staying close to home to sell my work. I strive to be the “local potter” .
