Winter always puts me in a reflective mood. After a whirlwind summer, fall brings the work of preserving the harvest and thoughts of the holiday season.
As a maker it’s our bread and butter season, we spend our time in the summer planning how we will execute our studio work throughout the fall and have it all done for our biggest sale event of the year.
As I work at the wheel I think about how my work fits into the buyers world.
The cup, so intimate, handmade, by the maker, each stage a tactile experience, a piece that will be used daily.
I personally love mugs, I collect them. I have my favorites, like an old friend and I have a few mugs I pull out occasionally, like an acquaintance. Each with it’s own level of connection.
Next Saturday, we will open our doors once again to our community and offer up our wares. We have invited a few other makers from the “hood” to join us. We hope you can make a day of it and head our way.
You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. ~Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
